Star Quilt

Way back in 2002 I pieced a Buggy Barn crazy star quilt. If you clicked over you can see I was totally unoriginal and copied their color scheme. If I remember correctly there are about 16 different reds and 16 yellows. I had to go to 3 different quilt stores to find enough. Once the top was done I stopped because it was too big for me to quilt it. So it sat.
For my 2009 birthday Kyle's mom gave me money to have it professionally quilted. I had to piece a back and binding and I had a 10 day old baby, so it sat around some more. A few months ago I took it in to have it quilted. This week I finally finished the binding. WOO HOO!
Here's Reese saying CHEESE! over and over until I took his picture. You can see him squeezed in at the edge in the 1st photo. Below is a closer look.
That star on the lower right looks like it's missing a point, but it's not. The point is just not very solid red, so it blends a little. I didn't notice until I started looking at the photo. That may not have been the best choice. This shows the middle red square over to the side edge. you can see the pieced skinny yellow border and the bigger red pieced border.
So finally 8 years in the making we have a huge quilt for the couch.

This is beautiful Heather! I am so happy for you that you were able to have it finished. I know you are loving it!

How long have you been quilting? Do you usually take quilts in to have them finished or finish them yourself? I'm just beginning to read a book--the first step before I even think of starting--and I am very overwhelmed:-).
